The Tower Bridge |
The bridge opens up to allow the passage of vessels and closes down right after they go through. It is about 800 years old and is undoubtedly one of the most famous bridges in the world! Built over the River Thames in 1894, it offers a spectacular view of the city. You can go up the towers, cross the bridge and visit the Victorian Machine Room, where you will find the original steam engines that power the hinge arms of the bridge. The movable part opens about 1000 times a year for large ships to go through. In 2014, the glass floor was inaugurated. Apart from being beautiful, you can take very interesting selfies. It has three halls which hosts some events and weddings. We did not get into the tower. We just passed through it on an open bus. But people say it is worth the visit, if you have more days available.
